I’ve been experimenting with running our Meta campaigns straight from Codex. I connected Meta’s official Ads MCP, built the setup around it, and gave Codex access to Noodle Seed’s own design and content system and skills.
What used to take me two weeks to design and get live now takes two hours at most. That’s my experience with our existing context and tools, not a promise about Meta’s review times or how long another company’s first setup will take.
The useful part is that I don’t have to explain our brand and product again every time I want to try something. The creative and campaign setup happen in the same conversation.
1. Give Codex your company context.
Start with your brand guide, approved logos and fonts, product facts, offer, landing page and examples of work you like. If you already have design and content skills, point Codex to them. If you don’t, start with a small brand direction or the product branding skill.
The downloadable Meta skill brings the workflow. It does not bring Noodle Seed’s identity or an asset-generation service. Use your own production tools and review the actual outputs.
2. Define the experiment before making variants.
Decide who you want to reach, what you’re offering, what you can spend, and what you want to learn. Record the account currency and timezone, whether the budget is daily or lifetime, and what changes between variants.
For one Noodle Seed setup, we prepared US, Pakistan and India campaigns with separate budgets and two copy variants per country. The six ads used the same temporary film. That made it a copy comparison, not a test of different video hooks. The campaigns were created paused for review; this example does not claim current delivery or results.
3. Make the creative with the system you already use.
Work through the copy, branded visuals and motion in Codex using your company’s skills. Review one representative asset before generating more variants. Keep editable files, phone-size previews, exact landing-page links and tracking tags together.
Change the variable you mean to test. If both the offer and the creative change, it becomes harder to understand which one made the difference.
4. Connect your own Meta account.
Meta hosts the official Ads MCP at https://mcp.facebook.com/ads. You’re connecting to that service, not deploying another server. In a current Codex CLI, check for an existing connection before adding one:
codex mcp list
codex mcp add meta-ads --url https://mcp.facebook.com/ads
codex mcp login meta-adsAuthenticate through Meta and verify the intended ad account and assets with a fresh account read. An endpoint saved in settings is not enough. The package includes an alternative for companies using a supported bearer-token setup, plus guidance for login failures. Keep credentials out of chat, source control and campaign files.
5. Build paused, review, then decide to launch.
Once remote creation is authorized, Codex can use the available Meta tools to create campaign objects. Keep campaigns, ad sets and ads paused while you inspect budgets, audiences, dates, creative previews and destinations. A paused campaign is still a real object in Meta.
Local file upload depends on the client and current tools. Our setup used a separate Graph API media upload. If your client cannot upload, use an authorized upload route or a manual handoff; the skill does not pretend every operation happens through MCP.
Approve the selected creative, spend and schedule before activation. Then read back the effective status. Created, active, approved and delivering are different things.
6. Read the results without filling in the gaps.
Keep the reporting cutoff, attribution and country comparisons clear. Meta-attributed leads are not automatically qualified customers. Match them to your own records where possible, and say when the evidence is missing or the sample is too small.
A failed connection means reporting is unavailable, not that spend is zero. The skill keeps reporting separate from budget changes and does not start a recurring job on installation.
Try it with your own company.
Install the skill, open your company project in Codex, and start with a local campaign brief and review pack. The package includes the setup guide and templates for each step.
Use $meta-ads-workflow to prepare an experimental Meta campaign for my company. Read our brand guidelines, design/content skills, product facts and existing assets first. Help me define the audience, offer, budget and test. Create the local brief, creative previews and review pack. Check my Meta connection when needed, but do not create remote campaigns or spend until I authorize that step.
Browse the source and adapt the skill. You’ll need your own Codex access, production tools, Meta permissions and ad budget.
